Tarpon Springs, Fl

The Standard Story

Our Story

Standard Sea & Co. started with a simple realization.

I moved to Florida and ended up twenty minutes from Tarpon Springs — the sponge capital of the world. A place where, for over a hundred years, divers have pulled natural sea sponges from the Gulf of Mexico. It's real history. Greek families built an entire town around it. And today, most people walk past it and see a tourist souvenir. A thing you buy on vacation and forget about.

But I kept coming back to one thought: this is a better product than what almost every man is using in the shower.

Because here's what most guys are scrubbing with. A plastic loofah — synthetic mesh that traps dead skin, breeds bacteria, never fully dries, and sheds microplastics onto your skin every single morning. Then it falls apart in a few weeks and sits in a landfill for the next five hundred years. We replaced something natural and superior with cheap plastic, and nobody stopped to ask why.

A natural sea sponge is the opposite of all of that. It resists mold and bacteria. It dries fast. It exfoliates the way no manufactured product can. It's one hundred percent biodegradable, right down to the cord. And it's been used for thousands of years — Roman soldiers, ancient physicians, athletes — long before plastic existed.

So I built Standard Sea & Co. to take this out of the souvenir shop and put it where it belongs: in the shower of every man who cares what he puts on his body.

This isn't a gimmick. It's not a novelty. It's a genuinely better tool, sourced from one of the richest sponge grounds on earth, brought to you by someone who believes men deserve better than a plastic loofah.

Ditch the plastic. Set the standard.

Not your girlfriend's loofah.
